Two Romanians Arrested on Espionage Charges After Photographing Greek Naval Base

Two Romanian nationals were arrested connected suspicion of espionage aft they were caught photographing the Salamis Naval Base from a tourer vessel connected Monday afternoon, the Hellenic Coast Guard has said.

The Salamis Port Authority was alerted that a tourer vas carrying 2 overseas passengers had entered the transmission of the naval base, a restricted subject area. 

The vessel was intercepted by a Greek Navy patrol.

During an inspection, Coast Guard officers discovered photographic worldly of the naval fort connected the mobile phones of the 2 individuals, ages 22 and 52. 

They were arrested and taken to the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.

Authorities confiscated 3 mobile phones, €4,700, and $400 from the suspects. Their vas was escorted to a adjacent larboard for further inspection.
