Greece monitoring Turkish research vessel Piri Reis, Foreign Ministry says

Greece is intimately monitoring the Turkish probe vessel Piri Reis, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lana Zochiou said connected Wednesday during a regular property briefing.

Zochiou said Athens had issued a counter-Navtex and noted that the oceanographic vessel had not moved so far. She added that Greece remained connected afloat alert and was safeguarding its sovereign rights.

Turkey issued a Navtex precocious Sunday announcing that opening Monday, and for 10 days, the Piri Reis would behaviour technological surveys successful parts of the Aegean Sea. Athens responded with its ain Navtex, challenging Ankara’s announcement and its implications.
