Budget surplus in first quarter of 2026

Greece recorded a fund surplus successful the archetypal 4th of 2026, the Finance Ministry said Wednesday, mostly done higher than expected tax revenues and little spending.

A ministry statement said the fund presented a €1.49 cardinal surplus successful January-March, compared to a targeted €111 cardinal shortage and a €1.61 cardinal surplus a year earlier. 

The superior surplus, which excludes indebtedness servicing costs, was €4.39 cardinal connected a modified currency basis, compared to a budgetary target of €2.73 cardinal and €4.49 cardinal a year earlier.

Net revenues deed €18.51 cardinal – €691 cardinal supra target – retired of which €17.28 cardinal was successful taxes. Expenditure was €17.02 billion, €913 cardinal little than budgeted.
