Athens marks World Car-Free Day with festival on Athinas Street

Athens will observe World Car-Free Day this weekend (September 20–21) by turning 1 of its busiest thoroughfares into a hub of civilization and activity.

For 24 hours, Athinas Street—from Evripidou Street to Monastiraki—will beryllium closed to each traffic and transformed into a space for exercise, creativity and assemblage life. It is the 2nd year the Municipality of Athens has organized a festival to coincide with the planetary observance, which takes spot connected September 22.
